ENVIRONMENT FRIENDS DEPUTED IN BARNALA TO CARE FOR 1 LAKH PLANTS, DEPUTY COMMISSIONER

 While the district administration Barnala is increasing the green cover in district by undertaking massive plantation drive, it is now 350 deputing around environment friends (van mittar) to take care of the 1 lakh plants in district.   

 Giving this information here today the Deputy Commissioner Mr Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka said that the under 550th Prakash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji 550 saplings have been planted in each village of district. Under this in the year 2019-20, 66550 saplings were planted and during present plantation season 35110 saplings are being planted.Meanwhile DC also planted saplings in Farwahi and Uppli Villages.

 ADC (D) Mr Arun Jindal said that to care for these saplings, two environment friends in each village are being deputed under Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). After identifying the environment friends a mustroll will be created in all the 175 villages.

 Mr Arun Jindal added that with the help of forest department, three nurseries are being operated from where the saplings are being provided free of cost. This will not ensure better and greener environment but also the plants will earn income for the panchayats.
