Home remedies for faster recovery from typhoid fever: Here’s what you should eat and avoid!

Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection that can spread throughout the body, affecting many organs. If not treated on time, the typhoid fever can cause serious complications and can be fatal. However, the doctors recommend balanced diet during the fever for faster recovery.

Here are some food items which should be included in your diet to cure the typhoid fever at home itself:

  • Garlic – Try to add garlic in your meal to cure the fever and boost the immunity level.
  • Cloves – Eat 2-4 cloves daily, treat the weaknesses of the body and help to fight against the illness.
  • Pomegranate- To eat pomegranate is good for blood circulation, to treat the pale skin due to anaemia.
  • Banana – Helps in weight gain, as while battling a person loses his or her immunity level.
  • Apple cider vinegar – Add a few drops of apple cider vinegar in water as it contains the antioxidant properties it has.

Apart from diet use these items to control the fever and the disease to spread:

  • Cold compressor- Having a high fever, use a cold compressor at intervals to make your body cool down and cure the high fever.
  • Fluid intake – As in typhoid, people suffer from vomiting, diarrhoea in which their bodies get dehydrated. So, consume fluids as much as you can to recover from the illness.

 

Here are some tips to be followed while treating the typhoid fever:

  • Avoid using personal stuff of the infected person including a towel, napkin, etc.
  • Drink only boiled water.
  • Avoid sweetened beverages and caffeine.
  • Limit the usage of raw vegetables and fruits.
  • Eat dairy products that include curd, yoghurt, buttermilk and cheese to stabilize the intestinal bacterial flora.
  • Take some bed rest to overcome the weakness caused by the disease.

 

Remedy tips to follow post recovery are:

1. Even if you feel better, you have to avoid exposure to cold weather conditions. Try to stay in warm conditions till symptoms of typhoid are completely gone.

2. Keep yourself hydrated. Consume different kinds of fluid throughout the day during and after recovery from typhoid.

3. Don’t diet too heavily after getting a recovery. Stick to a soft diet for the next five days and consult a physician to get the proper diet details you should follow post-remedy.

4. Do not engage in any physical activities after recovery as the body is still weak and needs time to get healthier over time. Avoid heavy workouts especially for one month.

5. Start regular check-ups so that whenever you get contracted with any disease it can be detected and cured easily and in quick progression.
