Is Covid-19 infection spreading among kids in this ongoing peak?

CHANDIGARH

In this covid-19 third wave, we all have witnessed a huge number of infections in kids. While the infection rate is spreading at a tremendous rate its efficacy has started getting visible. As of January 14, 2022, India reported a total of 2,64,202 new COVID cases.

The main reason is as kids stay in the same space as adults and the coronavirus is increasingly spreading among adults. The second reason that has led to the growing cases of  COVID-19 infection among kids owes to the fewer immunity kids prone to catch the infection. One more significant reason behind the surge of cases are kids can’t be quarantined. Since kids cannot be left alone so the chances of the infection increase from the parents or the family members.

Covid-19 symptoms overlapped with common flu, cold and cough. Moreover, there is no vaccination available for this age group so parents should take extra care of their children.

Have a toddler at your home? You need to follow the COVID safety guidelines religiously. Parents should limit going outside, should always wear masks properly, keep their surroundings properly sanitized and keep the child away from any sort of social contact.

Covid vaccination is not there but parents should make sure their kids get vaccinated against flu so that the impact of coronavirus is lessened to some extent when the infection occurs.

For quick recovery or to prevent this infection ensure that they drink plenty of warm water, other fluids, that help to loosen mucus in the oropharynx. Make sure they take frequent naps to reduce the stress.

As per the research, kids who develop MIS-C condition have come up with severe inflammation in various organs of the body, such as the heart, lungs, blood vessels, kidneys, digestive system, brain, skin or eyes, so take care of your child.
