Jalandhar district has secured top position in the vaccination of adolescents by covering 82 percent of total beneficiaries in the age group of 15-17 years with first doses of vaccine.

Participating in a virtual review meeting headed by Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that under this category as many as 82.16 percent of the beneficiaries have been covered with the first dose of vaccine, which is highest in the state. Likewise, 48.56 percent beneficiaries have been administered with second doses. He further added that as many as 92179 and 54480 beneficiaries have been given first and second doses respectively under the same category. He asked the officials to speed up the vaccination drive to ensure that no eligible beneficiary was left without the vaccination.

Giving details about vaccination of 12-14 years age group, the DC said that a total of 9730 beneficiaries have received first dose in this group adding that special camps were being held at school level across the district to cover students falling in this age group. He mentioned that the administration is aiming to cover over 2100 such schools.

The DC said that so far 18,605,22 and 1605770 beneficiaries have got first and second doses respectively in Jalandhar besides 71,361 have got precautionary doses with a total of 35,37,654 doses given under call categories. He called upon people to ensure their vaccination, especially their children to keep the virus at bay. On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (UD) Ashika Jain, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Ojasvi Alankar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ranjit Singh, DIO Rakesh Chopra and others were present.
