MCM holds interactive session on the art of writing

The Young Communicators Club at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, under the aegis of Public Relations Council of India (Chandigarh Chapter) and in collaboration with Mavericks- the Book and Film Club of Postgraduate Department of English, organised a programme ‘Let’s Talk about Writing and Beyond’. Mr. Vivek Atray, ex-IAS, Author and Motivational Speaker, and Mr. Jupinderjit Singh, Writer and Special Correspondent, The Tribune engaged in an enthralling conversation about the art of creative writing. The talk focused on the creative process wherein the authors shared their techniques and insights into how they approach the writing process. The authors recounted their experiences and how their penchant to pen down every thought culminated into their writing styles. Mr. Vivek Atray shared how writing helps in processing emotions and finding meaning in strenuous circumstances. He emphasized the importance of self-reflection in creative writing and the role it plays in catharsis. Mr. Jupinderjit Singh shared a deep insight into the creative process of writing non-fictional and investigative works through his writings ‘Butchered for Love’, based on a real life honour killing of a Canadian born Indian girl Jassi, and ‘Discovery of Bhagat Singh’s Pistol and his Ahimsa’. The event was attended by a diverse audience of 250 students, ranging from avid readers to aspiring writers, all eager to hear the perspectives of these two esteemed authors. Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava applauded both the clubs for undertaking this initiative to broaden the horizons of young aspiring writers and initiating them into the subtleties of creative writing.Dr. Bhargava, a poet herself, recited her self-composed poem, encouraging the students to take up new challenges.
