NCC cadets, students from Kargil take part in virtual event under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 12, 2022:
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India today organized a virtual interaction session on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) in which NCC cadets and students from Kargil participated and took pledge against drug abuse at Auditorium Hall Kargil.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendar Kumar, State Directorates of NCC, Principle Secretaries of Social Welfare Departments, students across the country participated through online mode.
NCC Cadets and students from different school of Kargil participated through online mode and took a mass pledge against drug abuse. They vowed to stay away from drugs and to make efforts to make India a drug free country.
The event was aimed to impart awareness about the dangerous implication of drug abuse in youth and to recognize the huge and positive influence of NCC, especially among youth.
The aim of the ceremony was to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving the goal of a sustainable world free of substance abuse.
The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is the Nodal Department in the Government of India for drug demand reduction.
Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship campaign to enhance the evidence-based approach towards substance abuse, was launched by the Union Government on August 15, 2020 in 272 identified districts to create awareness among young children and the community.
