In a move further tightening the noose around the travel agents cheating or duping innocent people on the pretext of sending them abroad, the people can lodge their complaints with The District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE).

Divulging further details, Deputy Director Employment Generation and Entreprises Bureau Ms. Meenakshi Goyal said that DBEE has been designated as a nodal agency to deal with the complaints and ensure speedy action against the erring travel agents. She said that the DBEE has been made the nodal agency by the state government through the Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act 2012/Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act 2014 to register complaints against fraud related to foreign travel, foreign studies and employment.
Ms. Goyal said a victim can submit a written complaint with the DBEE Office, Room Number 455, District Administrative Complex, Sector-76, Mohali on any working day along with his/her identity card from 9 am to 5 pm. She said if any travel agent working without licence or expired licence or any un-registered agent comes to our notice, an FIR would be registered against the accused .
Moreover, the copies of the FIR’s along with the information of travel agents would be uploaded on the website of the district administration so that others can be made aware of this. She said that Mr. Harpreet Singh Sidhu, Employment Generation, Skill Development Officer and Training Officer, Mohali has been appointed as Nodal Officer.
