PUNJAB SC COMMISSION SEEKS REPORT FROM SSP JAGRAON OVER ASSAULT ON DAKHA WOMAN

The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission on Tuesday sought a report from Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jagraon over the incident of assault on a woman belonging to SC community in Dakha by October 16.

Addressing a press conference, Member of Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Dr Tarsem Singh Sialka said that Harinder Kaur wife of Malkiat Singh belonging to Dakha has lodged a complaint with the commission alleging that a woman has been beaten by an upper caste man. The woman also alleged discrimination by local police and demanded justice from the commission, he added.
He said that it has also come to the notice of the commission that the police have registered a case against the victim instead of listening to her.
Member of the commission said that a notice has been issued and a status report has been sought from SSP on October 16, 2021.
