Rs. 1 lakh to be provided under Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Accident Assistance Scheme in case of accidental death or disability.
Chandigarh, July 24 – Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Om Prakash Yadav said that the aim of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Accident Assistance Scheme is to provide social security to the citizens between the age group of 18 to 70 years.
Mr. Yadav said that under this scheme financial assistance of Rs. 1 lakh is provided in case of accidental death or disability. The benefit of this scheme will be given to a person who has a domicile of the state on the condition that he should not be registered under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana at the time of the accident.
He said that under this scheme death in rail, road or air accidents, and permanent disabilities due to accidents is covered. Besides, snake bites, drowning, electrocution, falling from a height, falling of a house or a building, fire explosion, cases of animal attacks, stampede and suffocation, heatstroke, injury due to sky lightening, burns and death at the time of childbirth are also covered.
The Minister of State said that the scheme also includes death or permanent disability during industrial work while using threshing machines, industrial machines, or any other unnatural event.
Under this scheme, in case of the death of the victim of the accident, the application will be made by the eligible beneficiary to the concerned District Social Welfare Officer, where the accident victim lived at the time of the mishap. The amount will be credited directly to the eligible beneficiary’s bank account.
