CASE FORWARDED TO INCOME TAX DEPARTMENT

The team of ITBP and Flying Squad of 103-Barnala assembly constituency confiscated Rs 11 lacs cash from a Fortuner Car at Handiaya Chowk, Barnala on Jan 21, 2022.

Giving this informtion here today the District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Kumar Saurabh Raj stated that at the Handiaya Chowk, team of ITBP came across a white Fortunner car  number HR 24 AC 0013 during checking and Rs 11 lacs cash was found in the vehicle. The cash was present in stacks of two having Rs 500 denomination currency notes in each stack. No election material was found from the vehicle.

Tehsildar Mr Sandeep Singh and SHO Barnala city 2 Manish Kumar reached the spot. SHO city 2 Barnala bound the cash along with vehicle. Videography of spot was also done. The cash was handed over to the income tax department, which has further sent it to be kept at malkhana till the time investigation is completed.

District Election Officer said that the people carrying cash could not produce any documentation proof about the Rs 11 lacs cash found on them. He added that car occupant was a person named Raghubir Singh son of Durga Singh, from Sirsa, who was travelling with his son and driver from Barnala to Sirsa. Raghubir Singh had claimed of coming to Barnala was getting sone land registered.

The case is under investigation.
