SVB arrests HCS officer in bribery case

Zero tolerance policy against corruption: State Vigilance Bureau registered 8 enquiries and completed 9 enquiries during February

Chandigarh, January 18: Haryana State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) has arrested Amrinder Singh Manais, an HCS officer accused of involvement in the bribery case while he was holding additional charge of  District Transport Officer Ambala during the leave period of the regular incumbent.

        While giving this information here today, the SVB spokesperson said that the three accused who had been arrested in the case had disclosed the modus operandi adopted by the accused officer in the scandal. During the investigation, sufficient evidence has come on record to show that after taking over charge, the accused HCS officer had established a network of subordinate officials and agents and obtained illegal gratification through them for allowing overloaded vehicles to ply in his jurisdiction, following which the arrest was made today.

        “An FIR No. 11 was lodged in Ambala Vigilance Station in December 2021 after which three accused persons were arrested on the same day. After the interrogation, they revealed the modus operandi of how they used to take bribes from the transporters and issued them vehicle stickers on a monthly basis for a smooth movement”.

        Adding further, the SVB spokesperson said that the probe will further help in getting to the bottom of the matter, and the possibility of involvement of other accused cannot be ruled out. Strict action will be taken against all the culprits as per law.

The arrested accused Amrinder Singh Manais, HCS is currently posted as SDO (Civil) Kaithal.
