Here is the rainy season, and also the high chances of vector-borne illnesses including dengue and chikungunya. The rainy season’s approach would inevitably lead to an increase in the incidence of dengue, a virus that can be fatal in extreme instances.

What is Dengue?

Dengue is transmitted by the bite of an infected female mosquito. Once you get bitten by a mosquito it is mandatory to take medical assistance. Even after a diagnosis of dengue or severe dengue there is no particular therapy for the condition except taking proper bed rest.

Moreover, it is important to avoid contracting the illness by controlling mosquito breeding and by dressing in clothing that completely covers your body to avoid mosquito bites.

Here are some tips to prevent from dengue:

Avoid mosquito bites and dengue by dressing in long sleeves. By doing this, you may reduce the amount of skin that is exposed, protecting yourself from mosquito bites.

Apply insect repellents on your clothes before leaving the house.

Shut windows and doors before dusk since mosquitoes are most active at night.

Maintain a clean environment. There shouldn’t be any standing water close to the house since it serves as the ideal mosquito breeding environment. The drums, pots, vases, and tyre should be completely dry. Keep a lid on the water storage buckets.

Plants kept indoors in water should be kept outside in this monsoon season.

Mosquitoes are typically found in shadowy areas.

Make sure your home is properly lit;

Keep garbage away from your residence. Try your best to fog sometimes.

Eat a healthy, balanced diet to increase immunity. Fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and pulses must all be a part of your diet.

Limit your intake of processed, greasy, canned, and junk food since these items can impair your ability to fight against illness or disease.

During rainy season, one must not get thirsty at frequent intervals, but it is necessary to stay hydrated.

Refrain from consuming alcohol, and quit smoking in order to keep hydrated.

Symptoms of dengue:

You may see some changes in your body when you contract with mosquito bite. Signs of the dengue are fever, headache, or eye pain, muscle pain, joint or bone pain, rashes on your arm and leg, nausea or vomiting,

Take immediate help when you see the any of the symptoms.
