The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heatwave alerts for specific areas including Tamil Nadu, Interior Karnataka, Telangana, isolated areas of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema. A heatwave is officially declared when the maximum temperature reaches 40 degrees Celsius or higher, posing a significant risk to human health.
