A one-day farmers training programme was organised by the Department of Horticulture in Phey village to improve the structural shape of fruit trees. Director, Horticulture, Ladakh, Mohd Yousuf Dhar chaired the programme in which a total of 60 farmers participated.

Director Horticulture urged the orchardist to take maximum benefits from the experts.

District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Leh, Kunzang Wangmo stated that farmers should improve the quality of fruit trees. She added that Ladakh would soon be on the world map for exporting fruits.

Earlier, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, an expert in pruning and training (cutting techniques) demonstrated the methods of properly shaping the fruit trees for improving the standard quality and size of fruits in the coming years.

The programme concluded with an interactive session with the farmers and the distribution of tool kits.
