Women and men both struggle with the reproduction period for plenty of reasons. There is a need to raise awareness related to infertility as due to social stigma the topic is avoided.
The experts explain some of the reason behind this which includes; women with a greater Body Mass Index experiencing more challenges with egg production, irregular menstrual periods, an increased risk of miscarriages, and pregnancy issues.
Millions of people who are in reproductive years have infertility globally. Infertility affects around 48 million couples and 186 million people worldwide, according to estimates. According to a survey, about 27.5 million Indian couples who are actively trying to get pregnant struggle with infertility.
The much more prevalent cause of female infertility, the polycystic ovarian disease is linked to excessive weight gain.
The most important factor that affects reproduction rates is late marriages.
Infertility attempts by couples in their late thirties and forties also lower the chances. Hormonal imbalances that result in infertility are a result of poor food and a sedentary lifestyle.
The following are some lifestyle-related reasons for infertility that can be changed:
- Prolonged working hours:
The biological factor is influenced by a number of circumstances, including late working hours, graveyard shifts, untimely sleep patterns, stress, and anxiety.
Top of it, an unhealthy lifestyle and an absence of regular activity somehow contribute to an imbalance of hormones, excess weight and irregular menstrual cycles.
Obesity in males affects the sperms by altering the female: male hormone ratio, heating them up from prolonged periods of sitting at work, and wearing tight clothing, such as jeans, for extended periods of time. The heat during work is another factor.
- Unbalanced Diet:
Consistent consumption of frozen, quick, and packaged foods that are preserved with preservatives, more refined sugar and carbs, and fewer fiber-rich foods like millets, fruits, and vegetables affects your overall health.
Dietary choices have a direct impact on sperm quality. A bad diet can also cause delayed periods and dysfunctional ovulation in women, which can result in infertility. The BMI is also impacted by irregular eating schedules.
- Lack of information
Lack of sexual and reproductive health education throughout adolescence might result in STDs that cause tubal issues and cause irreparable infertility. Due to work shifts or because they live in separate locations because of their occupations, people frequently avoid having sex when it is absolutely necessary.
