1385 MICRO OBSERVERS DEPLOYED FOR JALANDHAR COVERING ALL LOCATIONS

The district administration today conducted second randomization to deploy manpower for the ensuing assembly polls in the presence of the officers of the district administration and representatives of the political parties here at the District Administrative Complex.

The randomization was held  in the presence of the Election Observers Manoj Kumar, Dr. Saroj Kumar, Bhupindra S Chaudhry and Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori. The Randomization was held for deployment of more than 12097 employees from centre and state governments, banks and public sector undertaking who have been assigned several duties during the polls. As per the requirement in election, the employees have been assigned duty as counting, polling and supporting staff besides utilizing their services for micro-observers.

The randomization was aimed at assigning duties to the staff for the polling schedule to take place on February 20. The randomization was done for deployment of 1975 polling parties at 1975 booths of the district. A total number of 10712 employees have been deputed as Presiding Officers (PRO), Polling Officers (PO) during the polls and adequate staff would also be deputed for counting to be held on March 10. The polling staff included 2678 PRO and 8034 PO for all 1975 polling stations.

Meanwhile, the first randomization was held for deployment of micro observers in all nine assembly segments, he said, adding that a total of 1385 Micro Observers would be deployed on the polling day across the district. Right from assessing the preparedness of the Polling stations to ensure peaceful poll the micro observers would play a pivotal role in the entire poll process. Pertinently, there were nearly 16.51 lakh total voters in the district.

The DC stated that around 15000 employees including polling staff and Returning Officer’s supporting staff have been deployed on poll duties in the district. He said that no stone to be left unturned for smooth conduct of elections in Jalandhar.

On the occasion Additional Deputy Commiasioners Jaspreet Singh, Amarjit Bains, Assistant Commissioner (UT) Ojasvi Alankar, District Information Officer Ranjit Singh, Election Tehsildar Sukhdev Singh, Election Kanoongo Rakesh,  and others were also present.
