Changing Seasons: Tips to avoid getting sick this season

CHANDIGARH

The body’s immune system gets lower during the weather change. Experts revealed that we usually see a spike in patients at hospitals whenever the weather changes drastically.

To prevent the cold and cough in the changing weather you must dress according to the weather.

  • Start wearing clothes according to the season, especially when the season gets changed. In winters, wear several layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, rather than wearing one layer of clothing. The outer garments should be tightly woven and water repellent.
  • When you are stepping out of home wear mittens or gloves as both are warmer and protect from the cold as the cool breeze can make you sick.
  • Keep your essentials with you, like a hat, eyewear so that you are away from the dust, cold which lead to the cough or sneezing and protect your lungs.

Symptoms that indicate that you have caught the chilliness during the weather change.

  • Dizziness, shivering are signs of the illness named hyperthermia. If you observe these symptoms for more than 2 days then you should seek medical attention immediately.
  • One more illness caused by the weather change is Gray, white or yellow skin discolouration, numbness or waxy skin being frostbitten. If you experience any of these symptoms, consult your doctor immediately.
  • In case you get wet in the rain or are overexposed to freezing temperatures then immediately change the clothes and take a blanket to give heat to the body.
  • Drink warm fluids including warm water, ginger tea, or soups which give heat to your body and even treat the runny nose.

Here are some easy tips which can help you to avoid getting sick when the temperature changes:

Maintain Good Hygiene: To keep the germs away, cover your mouth while coughing or sneezing. Wash your hands immediately after you sneeze to prevent the infection. Always wear clean clothes and change them every day, especially undergarments.

Stay Hydrate: Drinking several glasses of water daily is necessary. Water protects your body from illness and disease by flushing toxins and helps you absorb nutrients.

Eat a healthy diet: Eat food rich in vitamins, minerals that strengthen your immune system. As we all know the body is like a machine, and food is the fuel that a machine needs to work. So, add Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin B to your daily diet. Eat fresh fruits once a day. Leafy vegetables are good for health care.

Take rest: Your body needs a recharge so that it can work on the next day, so seven to eight hours of sleep is a must. It gives strength to the immune system and refreshes your mind. If you have time in the afternoon then go for a nap as it relieves the daily stress and gives a break to the brain.

Dress Accordingly: When the weather starts changing, then one of the silly mistakes a human make is the right choice of clothing. There is a cold and breezy wind outside but people wear trendy clothes and then catch the flu. This flu further creates health problems.
