HOW TO CONTROL DIABETES DURING THE FESTIVITIES

The whole year we have practiced social distancing due to the ongoing pandemic. We still need to do it in order to protect ourselves. However, after a long boring year we all want to enjoy this time of festivities. A major thing everybody love about festivals is the good food. Food makes everybody happy. Anyhow, if one is diabetic, they need to take control of their diet and avoid certain kinds of food. But it does not mean that you cannot enjoy the season if you’re diabetic. Here is how you can control your diabetes during the festive season:

1.Eat Smaller Yet More Meals- If you are diabetic then too you can enjoy the Diwali season. Eat anything you like but in small quantities. Break your meals into smaller portions and eat after every little while. This will help keep your blood sugar levels under control while providing you with the needed nutrition.

2.Take Control Of Your Diet- If you are diabetic, it doesn’t mean you cannot eat sweets at all or enjoy the good food. You can eat them but in small quantities so that the sugar levels remain stable. You can switch to healthy options like nuts instead of eating sweets the whole day.

3.Replace Your Milk Chocolate With Dark Chocolate- Who doesn’t enjoy eating chocolates? During Diwali, you can find them at everybody’s house and every kid’s hand. If you are diabetic and still wish to eat a chocolate then switch to dark chocolate. It contains more amount of cocoa and less amounts of sugar. The large number of antioxidants are also beneficial for your health.

4.Refrain From Alcohol- Diwali does call for a celebration and some booze. However, it is not the best thing for you. Alcohol can contain large amounts of sugar which can increase your sugar levels.
